Roaches
Cockroaches can bite people but it is rare. German cockroaches are the most likely to bite, probably because they are often responsible for large infestations. Cockroaches bite sleeping humans because they are looking for food. Sometimes a cockroach will sense a small amount of food on the mouth or fingers of a person and they will accidentally bite while they are eating. This only happens when there is no other easier food source available. Cockroaches will also sometimes risk crawling over a sleeping person to get to moisture built up around the eyes or the nose. The cockroach needs water to survive and if it can’t find water anywhere else it might have to get it from you.
Of course, the best way to deal with roaches is not to get them in the first place. If you are unfortunate enough to get in infestation, you can buy roach bait at the store or you can try making it yourself. Here are easy recipes you can use to get rid of roaches.
1. For the second recipe mix 1 pound borax, 3 1/2 pounds powdered sugar, 1 ounce cocoa powder and 1 ounce table salt together well.
2. Pour the mixture into plastic bottles.
3. Secure the lids to the bottles.
4. Poke some holes in the bottles along the sides along the top and use an Exacto knife to cut one inch slits from the edge of the hole.
5. Poke the pieces of plastic in and you’ll get a hole that the cockroaches can climb into easily but can’t get back out of very easily. This is good if you have pets that are likely to try to eat the poisoned roaches. The bottles will trap the poisoned roaches inside of you don’t have to worry about your pet getting poisoned.
6. Place your homemade roach traps where you’ve seen roaches gather in your house.
7. Keep you house clean to discourage the roaches from sticking around. Don’t leave dishes in the sink. Fix leaky faucets. Take your trash out daily. Run the garbage disposal on a regular basis. Keep your counters wiped down and clean.
