The beauty of this solution to get rid of these common pests is that it is totally non toxic. It is made from two ingredients we eat all the time. The reason it’s deadly to the ants is because ants have formic acid in their systems and it reacts with the baking soda, much like vinegar and baking soda. The combination expands producing large amounts of gas and they explode. It works on almost all ants including fire ants.
Just hand mix 2 parts baking soda with one part powdered sugar so it is well mixed together. Put the mixture in a dish so the ants can crawl into it. When the ants eat the mixture they will pop. It may be a hard way to go but it is quick.
