In past years after being away all winter, upon returning home I have found some mouse droppings around my kitchen, Last year before leaving for the winter I sprinked massive amounts of cayenne pepper all around the baseboards and counter tops in my kitchen and laundry room. When I returned in the spring there were piles of mouse droppings everywhere! Much more then in the past. It looked like they played, ate and just loved the cayenne pepper! They made such a mess it took days to clean everything up! Recently I saw a mouse in the kitchen. I saw where it hid so I put peppermint all around the area. No more mouse signs. Not sure it worked but sure hope so. I am sorry to say but I am giving up on saving them. This year I am also setting traps and will drown them in a bucket of water. Sad to do this but I am afraid they will take over my house.
